History
The Raspberry Pi was born when Eben Upton, Rob Mullins, Jack Lang, and Alan Mycroft got the idea for a small computer that would be affordable and easy to use. Why? Well, they were concerned about the decreasing number of kids in classes teaching Computer Science.
They teamed up with Pete Lomas (Managing Director of Norcott Technologies) and David Braben (co-author of BBC Micro Game Elite) and they made up The Raspberry Pi Foundation.
Three years later, Raspberry Pi Model B entered mass production through licensed deals with two different companies. Within two years, it had sold over two million units.
Models
Like there are many different models of iPads and iPhones, there are many different models of the Raspberry Pi - models A, A+, B, B+, and now 2.
They are different from eachother, but only a little.
